THINGS TO DO AROUND NYC
There are many things to do throughout NYC and everyone will have different things they're drawn to but here are some things that Abby & Richard enjoy!
Museums
NYC has some great museums for art, history, and science. Some our or top recommendations are:
The Met Cloisters (far but Abby's favourite)
Brooklyn Museum (close to the venue)
Parks & Wandering
NYC has a lot to see just by wandering around. We encourage you to explore at your own pace but here are some places to get started:
Prospect Park (next to the venue and has a dog beach!)
Central Park (the one from Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York)
Brooklyn Promenade (explore more of Brooklyn and see the Manhattan skyline)
Hudson River Park (walk along the Hudson River if you're going uptown/downtown in Manhattan). You can also get a decent view of the Status of Liberty!
Restaurants & Bars
There's obviously SO MANY amazing bars and restaurants in NYC, some take reservations, some are walk-ins only. We've broken down our suggestions by neighbourhood to help you figure out plans.
Downtown Brooklyn (Downtown, Park Slope, Boerum Hill, Prospect Heights)
Threes Brewing - Chill bar with a large tap list, wine, cocktails, and food. They have TVs and outdoor space if that's your vibe!
Sweet Polly - Cocktail bar with some interesting house cocktails as well as reliable classics. They also have light bites and 2$ happy hour oysters!
Sunken Harbour Club - Really cool underwater themed tiki/tropical cocktail bar. It gets really busy so you'll need to either make a reservation or go early, put your name down, then find something to do while you wait. We definitely think it's worth it!
KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot - Delicious Korean style BBQ and hot pot. It's also conveniently located next to the Sunken Harbour Club :)
Bushwick Brooklyn (Bushwick, Williamsburg, Greenpoint)
El Pinguino - A Spanish seafood bar that has good oysters, wine, and martinis.
Fresh Kills Bar - A bespoke cocktail bar with a wide variety of spirits and very knowledgeable bartenders.
Hana Makgeoli Brewery - Makgeoli is a lightly sparkling Korean rice wine that is delicious. Hana also has some Korean street food options!
Wenwen - A great Taiwanese restaurant. We strongly recommend the "Whole BDSM Fried Chicken" if it's available when you visit!
Lower East Side Manhattan (Lower East Side, East Village, Bowery)
Amor y Amargo - A New York famous cocktail bar that specializes in bitters and amari!
MaLa Project - A Chinese "dry pot" restaurant that has an amazing szechuan spice.
Double Chicken Please - A New York famous cocktail bar that has food themed cocktails and some delicious fried chicken! Reservations can be difficult to obtain for the backroom so plan accordingly!
Dirt Candy - A Michelin starred vegetarian restaurant that is absolutely fantastic!
Ten Bells - A wine bar that has $1 oysters and $8 wine happy hour every day!
West Village Manhattan (West Village, Chelsea, Tribeca)
Bar Moga - Japanese restaurant with excellent cocktails. We really recommend the "omu rice"!
Blind Tiger - A craft beer bar with a huge selection of beers on tap.
Commerce Inn - An "old style American" restaurant with a seasonal menu.
Lavaux - A Swiss wine & fondue restaurant with house made bread, a great selection for charcuterie, and some amazing fondue options.
